CIOs Are More Likely to be Fired Than Promoted

According to CIO magazine 23% of CIOs are eventually fired. How many get promoted? Only 10%.

This serves as another confirmation — the CIO is least appreciated of the CXO roles.

Most industries are coming around to the idea that technology is the business. If this trend continues, the outlook should improve for CIOs. Perhaps one day it will become the preferred route to the CEO role.
