Configuration management is the practice of tracking the state, design and characteristics of complex systems. This information is required for processes such as maintenance, support, safety, incident management, problem management, change management, audits and planning. For example, a theme park may track the attributes of parts and components in attractions to manage safety and maintenance. The following are common configuration management terms.
