An artificial neural network is a machine learning technique inspired by biological neural networks. Early neural networks were based on systems of interconnected "neurons" with weights on each connection. Learning was reflected by updating the weights with each new experience. With time approaches have changed and this type of model is increasingly rare.
Modern neural networks no longer resemble structures of the brain but instead use signal processing and statistics techniques such as non-linear transformations.
