Salmon is a set of orangish pinks or pinkish oranges that are inspired by the color of salmon flesh. Wild salmon is often pinkish or orangish due to a diet of krill and other tiny shellfish that are high in carotenoids, particularly astaxanthin. This is similar to the process that turns flamingos pink. Farmed salmon may be fed artificial coloring agents in order to simulate the appearance of wild salmon. Salmon color has a strange glow and often has a rich, creamy appearance. It is commonly used in fashions and cosmetics.
Notes The flesh of salmon that haven't been fed carotenoids or some artificial equivalent is typically grey.
