100 Opposite Colors

 ,
Opposite colors, also known as complementary colors, are colors that have opposing wavelengths of light. Mixing any two colors that are complementary results in an uncolorful color such as grey or brown. Complementary colors have very high contrast with each other. This property is used in art, design and fashion to maximize visibility and visual effect. The following are pairs of complementary colors that can be considered opposites.

Notes

Many color wheels and models give different complementary colors than those above. The palette above is correct. It is calculated by inverting the hexadecimal color codes of the RGB model and is consistent with optics.
People tend to view color models as concrete and universal when in fact they impose constraints that vary from model to model. They are often based on a disputed 1892 theory known as opponent process theory.
White and black are commonly perceived as colors. Color is a type of human and animal perception that doesn't map directly to the physics of light.
