Communication planning is the process of identifying goals, objectives, target audiences, formats, channels, content, schedule and responsibilities for communication efforts. This produces a communication plan that may be little more than a chart that documents future meetings, documents and media releases. Alternatively, a communication plan may be an extensive document that details large spending initiatives such as marketing campaigns coordinated across dozens of channels. The following are common elements of a communication plan.
