What is Streamline Moderne?

Streamline Moderne is a style of architecture and design that emerged in the 1930s that is characterized by curving forms and long horizontal lines.
The style gives the impression of movement and speed and was influenced by the automobiles and ocean liners of the day. Some examples of Streamline Moderne have nautical themes.
Streamline Modern is considered a late form of Art Deco. It is far less decorative than Art Deco and can be viewed as a move towards the modern architecture of the 1930s such as Bauhaus that loathes ornamentation.
