What is a Beta Candidate? John Spacey, updated on
A beta candidate is a product, service, system or process that is undergoing testing in the hopes of releasing it to customers or internal clients as a beta release.A release cycle may include a phase known as alpha with partial features that are considered stable enough to test. The next phase, known as beta, includes features that are usable by customers. A beta candidate is considered potentially stable enough to ship on a limit basis. For example, a limited set of customers may be given access to a beta with the firm warning that the release may be unstable.
