Social attitudes are frames of mind with respect to people and social entities such as societies, cultures, organizations, institutions, interactions and events. Attitudes do not necessarily align to behavior but can influence it. For example, an individual who believes in openness and candor but nevertheless holds back information for political reasons in the office. Social attitudes are situational and change with time. It is also common for conflicting attitudes to compete such as an individual who values both cooperation and independence. The following are common examples of social attitudes.

What is a Social Attitude?Social attitudes have three flavors as follows:- An individual's attitude towards other people and social situations.
- An individual's attitude towards politics and social issues.
- Attitudes that are shared by a social group such as a cultural norm or belief.
Attitude Towards PeopleA social attitude can be an individual's general feeling and approach towards other people and social situations. This isn't a static characteristic of a person and can change according to situation and mood.Attitude Towards Social IssuesAn individual's political outlook or their general feelings about specific social issues. These can align to a particular political ideology or an individual may have unique attitudes towards each issue such that they don't completely align to any one political group.Attitudes Shared by Social GroupsAttitudes that originate with culture or society that are widely shared across large groups.
