Slice of life is a storytelling technique that depicts scenes from the everyday life of a character. These may not contribute to the plot but rather help to develop the character. It is common for a slice of life to be comical or surreal. Some authors make heavy use of slice of life whereby the entire plot evolves within scenes from everyday life.
