238 Examples of Personality Traits

 ,
A personality trait is a characteristic set of behaviors, emotions and thought patterns that can be used to describe the personality of an individual. One popular theory, known as the big five personality traits, lists these as openness, conscientiousness, extraversion, agreeableness and neuroticism. Perhaps this theory has value but is it also commonly used to label people and systematically categorize them with broad terms that may have negative connotations. For example, a student who is labeled as introverted by a teacher and treated differently based on this broad assumption. This may neglect grey areas and the many variations of personality that make each individual unique. The following is an expanded list of personality traits that is by no means exhaustive. This includes traits that can be viewed as positive, neutral and negative.
