Mashups

Everything you ever wanted to know about mashups but were afraid to ask.

Mashups

The internet boom of the late 1990s drove the need to aggregate web content from multiple sources. Two solutions emerged: Mashups and Portals.

Mashups allow you to pull media, text and scripts into your webpages.
A new breed of BI vendor has emerged and taken a big chunk of the BI market: BI discovery tools. The key message coming from these vendors is clear — business users can deploy and manage BI tools without help from IT.
Enterprise Integration has traditionally focused on moving data from one database to another. Recent technology trends have challenged this approach.
The value of Mashups lies in the potential of content aggregation to replace traditional methods of integration.
Enterprises tend to over-engineer integration. On the internet things evolved differently.
