Information science is the analysis and management of information. Information differs from data in that it is meant to be consumed by people. Information differs from knowledge in that knowledge is produced by people but information may be created by machine. As such, information science overlaps with data management and knowledge management but is a unique practice focused on issues related to human use of data.
