Furniture includes things that support your body such as a chair and structures for organizing your stuff such as a shelf or table.FixturesReplaceable features of a home that are physically attached to a structure such as a wall, floor, ceiling or the ground outside the home. Fixtures are typically sold with a home and come with an apartment but as they can be upgraded, they are also commonly purchased by households.Home DecorItems for the home that have a decorative purpose such as art, sculptures and picture frames. Home decor also includes any functional items that are viewed as having much aesthetic impact such as pillows on a sofa.Home AppliancesMajor appliances that are installed in a fixed place in the home. These are often both electrical and mechanical and help to automate work in the home. These overlap with fixtures (above) because sometimes they are physically integrated into the home such as a dishwasher built into a kitchen cabinet.Small AppliancesRelatively small electronic appliances that are used to prepare food and beverages. These include various sizes of relatively generic pots and pans. Cookware and bakeware can also provide specialized functions such as steaming. Others are designed to the form factor of a particular food such as a pizza or muffin pan.Kitchen UtensilsSmall tools and implements for preparing and serving food. These each implement a specific function in an efficient way such as mixing, measuring, cutting, stirring or serving a particular type of food. Kitchen utensils are available in unbelievable variety that are often specific to a particular food or food format. This may seem excessive but there is a certain joy in completing a task in the kitchen smoothly because you have exactly the right tool.Home TextilesThings for the home that are made from fabrics and similar soft materials. The industry term for these items is soft goods.SummaryHouse things can be viewed as shared services for the members of a household. These are the amenities that provide the basic comforts and conveniences of a home.
