Turquoise is a bluish green color. It can be produced with a mix of pale blue and bright green. The name turquoise is taken from the blue-green mineral of the same name that is rare in its finest grades such that it is prized as a gemstone. The gem turquoise was well known to ancient civilizations such as ancient Egypt. Turquoise has been used as a color name in English since 1573. There are four variations of turquoise color names in the original 140 colors supported by web browsers. As such, turquoise is familiar to modern visual designers.
