Sap green is a medium green color based on a historical paint used in art that was produced with ripe buckthorn berries. This color is well known to painters and simulations of sap green color are commonly available as art supplies. However, these products don't typically contain buckthorn berries. Sap green is related to a yellow color known as pinke that is produced from unripe buckthorn berries. It is similar to other medium greens and thematically related to colors of greenery and Spring.
