What is a Repair Cafe?
John Spacey, updated on August 08, 2023
A repair cafe is an event or permanent location where people meet to fix things. They typically offer tools, spare parts and in some cases advanced tools such as 3d printers for printing parts. Repair cafes are social and people may help each other troubleshoot and exchange ideas for reuse. When something can't be repaired it may be disassembled for parts and contributed to the cafe. Repair cafes represent a culture of extending the use of items and reuse. It is common for a repair cafe to focus on a particular type of item such as clothing, electronics or bicycles.
