International business is trade in goods and services that flows over borders. This is traditionally associated with large multinationals that distribute their products on a global basis. For example, construction benefits from knowledge of local culture, standards, practices and preferences.Trade barriers such as tariffs and subsidies reduce international competition in some industries. For example, a nation that imposes tariffs on imported food to promote local food security.A business can be considered international if foreign tourists are a large portion of revenue. In this case, the product or service may be stationary but the customers themselves cross borders.
