Tangerine is an orange color inspired by the color of tangerine fruits. Tangerines are a type of mandarin orange that are generally smaller than oranges with a far thinner peel. Generally speaking, tangerine is slightly lighter than orange but many varieties of both colors exist such that this doesn't always hold true. As with orange, tangerine is perceived as a warm, tangy and fresh color. As tangerine color is relatively rare in nature it is commonly perceived as loud, garish and unconventional. Tangerine attracts attention and is often used for high visibility applications such as advertising, logos, product design and costumes.
