Vertical farming is a collection of techniques for growing food in vertical stacks. The idea includes both techniques that use natural light, artificial light or some mix of the two. Vertical farming may be integrated into mixed use architecture such as the exterior walls of skyscrapers. Alternatively, vertical farming is envisioned as a vertical green house that's dedicated to food production.
The theoretical benefits of vertical farming include improving land use by reducing the ecological footprint of farming and improving quality of life by integrating farming into urban environments.|
