Human Experience

The human experience are the common things that a person is likely to experience in life. This includes easy, difficult, painful, joyful and wonderful experiences that are sure to give each of us a range of emotional experiences over time. Here it is important to note that it's not just positive emotions that have value ... all emotions are part of the human experience. Negative emotions are intended to help you process things that you are likely to experience in life.

Social Things

People are social beings and our emotions can be greatly influenced by others. Something as simple as friendly conversation with a neighbor or joking around with a friend is likely to greatly improve your emotional state.

Thinking

One thing that you can do to shape your emotions is to direct your thoughts. For example, appreciating the little things in life can create a sense of calm and peace. Other thought processes such as pessimism are likely to generate negative emotions.

Culture

Another way to shape your emotions is to participate in culture. Things like music, art, literature, poetry and films are likely to greatly influence your emotions and give you a greater range and depth of emotional experience. Likewise actively participating in culture such as playing on a sports team, taking dance classes or creating art can generate positive emotions.
