Canary yellow is a medium yellow color inspired by the small, sociable, seeding-eating bird of the same name. This has been used as an English color name since 1789 as a marketing term for bright yellow fashions, paints and furnishings based on pigments such as cadmium yellow. The CMYK color model is based on canary yellow where it is known as process yellow. This is a color model that uses cyan, magenta, yellow and black to simulate all other colors. The following are common types of canary yellow.
