6 Types of Cornflower Blue
(Van Gogh - Young Man With Cornflower)Cornflower blue is a purplish blue based on the color of blue cornflowers that were historically common as a wild flower in Europe but are now endangered in their native habitat due to herbicides. This is an ancient name for a color that is steeped in lore. In European folklore, a young man in love would wear a cornflower and if the flower faded quickly it was considered a sign that the feelings where unrequited. Cornflower blue is mentioned at least once in every Chuck Palahniuk novel and is referenced twice in the film Fight Club where it appears to symbolize complacency and obsession over mindlessly unimportant details. Indeed, cornflower blue is considered a calming color that is almost offendingly unoffending. The following are common variations of cornflower blue.
