A dataset is a collection of data. This is a general term for data that is interrelated in some way. The following are examples of datasets.

Database

The term dataset can apply to a single table in a database or to an entire database of related tables. For example, a firm's customer database might include customer details, contacts, address, orders, billing history, transaction history and other tables that are collectively considered a dataset.

Document

A dataset can be stored in a document. For example, a sales team might manage a dataset of product information in a spreadsheet.

Distributed Storage

Big data such as a repository of sensor data collected from self-driving vehicles accessed and managed using a distributed storage framework.
