What is Community Media?
Community media is the publication of information about a community by a community. This includes local journalism that reports on the news, local information sources and locally produced content such as arts and entertainment.Definition of Community MediaInformation published by a community about a community using traditional or digital media.
The media platforms used by a community are often owned and operated by people outside the community. For example, a social media platform operated by a large technology company. This can still be considered community media where people within your community are able to use these tools to reach other community members. Ideally, a community will have access to media that is fully community operated. For example, a small city with its own radio and television stations that report the news.Next read: Community Communication
