125 Outlooks On Life

 , updated on
An outlook on life are the viewpoints, attitudes, beliefs and values that shape an individual's general approach to life. These tend to change with time and experience. Likewise, individuals may reflect on their outlook and work to change it as a means of self-improvement. The following are common examples of an outlook on life.

Personal Outlook

Foundational elements of your outlook that end up shaping your personality. For example, if you have an adventurous outlook your thinking, behavior and how you are perceived by others may be very different from someone with a cautious outlook.

Social Outlook

An individual's outlook with respect to social situations, social groups, social identity and people in general. For example, an individualist who defines themselves independently of any social group or a collectivist who views their identity in terms of group membership.

Motivation

Motivational outlook such as a passion for your work, social life or creative pursuits. This can include a lack of motivation such as a low sense of personal agency whereby you don't believe that you influence your own outcomes in life much.

Mindset

The general direction of an individual's thoughts. This can change from moment to moment with each new situation but individuals can also have a mindset baked into their outlook on life. For example, an individual who is optimistic tends to see the best in people and the possibilities that surround all things.

Political Viewpoint

A political viewpoint that shapes how you view politics and social issues. These also may say something about how you view things such as change or human nature. For example, conservatives value stability and tradition while progressives embrace an aggressive rate of change.

Life Priorities

What you view as important in life. Generally speaking, people want many things from life. However, where you run into constraints such as limited time and resources an individual often needs to decide what to prioritize. Listing your priorities is one way to identify and reflect on your outlook on life.

Others

Other elements of outlook on life such as your beliefs, values, views and sense of identity. For example, your sense of time and whether you are focused on the past, the moment or the future.
