In business, the similar term target audience is used in place of intended audience. It is common to confuse target audience and target market. Audiences are specific to communication such as the audience for a commercial. Target markets are specific to products and services.Communications commonly reach an unintended audience. For example, you may make a film for fans of science fiction but people who dislike science fiction may watch anyway.
