What is Security as a Service?

 , updated on December 16, 2016
Security as a service is the cloud delivery of information security tools. It is an alternative to owning and operating information security related software and hardware in areas such as authentication, anti-virus, vulnerability scanning, security testing tools, DDoS protection and security event management.

Technology

Security as a service is a broad term that simply denotes that a particular security tool is delivered primarily using a cloud model potentially combined with thin clients. This can have particular benefits in areas such as DDoS protection where services such as a web proxy can scale to handle an attack.
