Legacy media is traditional media that is limited to one-way communication without broad participation or interaction. This is a bit of a loaded term that suggests that certain types of media are outdated and disappearing. Legacy media has shown much resilience in the face of competition from new media such that it is likely to survive into the future. The following are media that are arguably legacy.

The defining characteristic of legacy media is one-way communication. As such, ebooks and some forms of streaming media are legacy despite being digital.|
