Attention economics is the study of human attention as a scarce resource. It is used to describe the value of free services such as video games that can generate revenue through advertising or by gaining a deeper relationship with customers that leads to purchases. Attention economics can also be used to calculate costs due to negative effects such as spam that consume people's attention but add zero value. |
