What is a Serious Game?

A serious game is any game designed to serve a business purpose such as training, decision making, problem solving or strategy formation. Serious games first evolved out of military and emergency services training techniques. In the 1970s, businesses started using serious games with simulations designed to enhance training. In recent years, they are increasingly used to gamify business processes or planning functions.
