Communication values are principles that an organization, team or individual adopts in order to guide communication. These can be related to questions of right and wrong such as the principle that communication be honest. Communication values can also relate to your communication goals. For example, a salesperson who adopts the principle that they are candid and direct with customers as a means to establish credibility and ultimately close more sales and build stronger customer relationships. The following are common examples of communication values.

This can include general principles for effective communication such as tact whereby you try not to offend others. Personal communication values can also be an effort to shape your character and social presence with principles such as kindness, understanding and forgiveness.Team CommunicationCommunication values related to working collaboratively and cooperatively with others towards common goals. For example, the principle that you offer timely responses and feedback to other team members.Transparency ValuesTransparency is the process of giving others the information they may need.
