What is Augmented Reality?

 , updated on
Augmented reality is the live integration of reality with information, media, virtual entities and user interfaces.

Direct Augmented Reality

Direct augmented reality is the integration of information environments with a users current live view of the world. For example, a communication tool could show you a hologram with subtitles of translations as someone is speaking to you in a foreign language.

Indirect Augmented Reality

Indirect augmented reality is a live view of the real world where the user isn't physically present. For example, if you're too busy to fly to London for a party you could attend as a hologram.

Example

Playing chess against a computer using a real chess board with players that are holographic.
