Big data is a general term for technologies that are build to store, process and analyze data using cloud infrastructure. Traditional data repositories such as data warehouses were capable of using very large arrays of physical storage but had limitations. Big data techniques have no such limitations as they are designed to use unlimited numbers of machines using distributed processing techniques.
