Daily shopping is a common custom in Europe and Japan to shop for fresh food on a daily basis. This is related to city transport norms as many people in large European and Japanese cities take the train, cycle and walk frequently meaning that they typically only shop for a few items at a time. This differs from customs in cities where cars are the predominant form of transportation. In North America, it is common to shop for groceries once a week and to purchase a great quantity of items at one time.
Daily shopping tends to support small neighborhood shops. Weekly shopping is most common in cities divided into large residential, industrial and commercial zones. |
