Consumer staples are products that are regularly repurchased by consumers. This includes goods that are consumed such as food and goods that have a limited lifespan such as socks. Anything that is durable such as a vehicle isn't a consumer staple. Consumer staples is a particularly competitive industry that is dominated by large firms that operate at great scale. It is common for each firm to sell hundreds of brands with great product variety and depth. The following are examples of consumer staples.
