What is Process Improvement?
John Spacey, updated on December 18, 2016
Business process improvement is the practice of measuring your business processes and continually improving results until processes are fully optimized.Measurements of business processes are chosen to achieve an organization's strategy. This can be a challenging task because measurements that are unbalanced tend to result in undesirable optimizations. For example, if you measure cost without measuring quality, costs will drop at the expense of quality. Strategies to improve processes include automation, eliminating waste and redesigning processes to improve results. In many cases, results are benchmarked against the best known result for an industry.
