What is Look And Feel?

 , updated on
Look and feel is a common way to describe the experience offered by a user interface. Look refers to visual design and feel refers to the overall customer experience of using a product, service, environment, machine or tool. Feel is an appropriate word as user interfaces often leave customers with an emotional impression. A user interface can be engaging and pleasing to use. Alternatively, an interface can put users into a bad mood by forcing them to tackle needless complexity, cryptic controls and an counterintuitive flow.

Example

The look of a camera includes the visual design of the entire product including screen-based interfaces. Feel includes the performance of the camera and every detail of its use that customers notice. For example, a lens cap that makes a tiny click sound when you put it on so that you know it's secure.
