Layout vs Composition
John Spacey, updated on July 20, 2023
Layout is the arrangement of the elements of a design such as the stories on a page of a newspaper. As with layout, composition is concerned with the arrangement of elements. However, composition implies a creative thought process that's associated with arts such as painting, photography, writing and architecture. Layout has a more technical connotation and is something that can be automated such as the arrangement of dynamic content on a webpage.
