Data wrangling is the process of cleaning and transforming data so that it can be consumed by information technology. It is typically a semi-automated process that involves an element of skill in identifying and transforming data using tools such as ETL. In many cases, a data wrangler writes custom code to perform a conversion.
Data wrangling is associated with large, messy sets of raw unstructured data. The output of data wrangling is something that is usable by information technologies such as user interfaces, automations, transaction systems, machine learning and analytics.
