A category killer is a product, service or business with a strong competitive advantage that results in a concentration of market power with one firm. In other words, it's a business that's so strong that it essentially kills off the competition. In some cases, this leads to a monopoly position in a market.

In many cases, you can charge a high price for a category killer and still command a large share of the market. In other words, they are tend to generate significant revenues at a high margin.
