Value added reseller, commonly abbreviated VAR, is a business model that involves creating new products and services from the products and services of other firms. As the term suggests, a value added reseller offers something of value that happens to include the products of other companies. As such, a clear distinction exists between a VAR and firms that simply sell or rebrand another firm's products and services.
ExampleA street vendor buys fruit from a farmer's market and cuts them so that they are in a consumable format. The process of cutting the fruit and packaging it in a convenient way adds value.|
