Robotics is the practice of designing, building and operating autonomous or semi-autonomous machines. Semi-autonomous robots are operated by human input such as a remote control or with external automation such as a manufacturing system. Robotics has the potential to free humans from repetitive or dangerous work to improve economic and social conditions. It also has negative potential. For example, robots are devices that could be used to harm humans, such as robots designed for warfare.
